Foreign Fashion for Fashionistas? London.

With New York Fashion Week long and gone, I have laid back in the 'fashion-media' until something recently have come up on my radar-of-interest. Fashion in its purest form; from the fashion region of the world, Europe.

The fashionistic views of London has been on a constant downfall as of late. People question whether the products of British imagination is either creative, or simply put a harsh visuals to put eyes upon. Fashion is about creativity, no doubt, but definition of the term 'creativity' has boundaries, and with a vision specced to American standards, London has constantly passed the thin-red-line into the region of 'bizarre'. Let's see if this year's London's Fashion Week: Spring/Summer '07 have changed the misconception that we might hold against those royals.

Not a big fan of British designers, for an exception for Alexander McQueen (who I will talk about in a few) but there is one individual that has caught my eye with both the collection and the overall presentation of it. This man single handedly made me interested in London's Spring/Summer sets.

Giles Deacon

Giles Deacon, the new young-designer-wonder in the fashion of London, has presented his collection (which borders magnificent) in a bold, and at some points horrific, mode of presentation; giganto hair hats of sorts.

Focusing on the current 'fashion must' of black-and-white, Deacon manages to display his play on the colours on a monotonous, and yet eye-catching, manner throughout his collection. With his full skirts, bubbles, flares, coat and skirt combo to even a jumpsuit, he manages to keep your eyes focused on what he trying to sell and represent; his definition of fashion. Though some might call his collection a little too 'down-to-earth' in the standards of Europe, but it might be exactly what the industry needs; a slight tone-down (because this simply isn't fashion in my book).

While we are on the topic of British designers, I will now show you another collection for another season by my utmost favourite British designers of all times.

Alexander McQueen

If Deacon represented my favourite Spring/Summer '07 Collection from London, Alexander McQueen is the king of the Fall/Winter line. Ok, it was way back in March mind you, but this man deserves to be stated no matter what the time is (which was also the case with Suri, but McQueen gets 6 months' validity).

If I may describe all of McQueen's clothes in one term, it would simply be 'perfection'. The tailoring is exquisite on all his clothing and the presentation is superb. He brings the classical-chic back within the European design. He is not swayed by the 'modern' movement, and that is one of the major reasons he remains on my list as one of the few British designers that I take great interest in. To those who are wondering what is on my wish list at the moment, it's this sexy number (may this be a hint to all those who are wondering what I want for Christmas).

It is obvious that not all of us 'Americanized' viewers can appreciate the fashion of foreign. However, in my opinion, fashion shouldn't be a regional concept, but rather acceptable throughout the globe. I give my applause to those who try to push the limit of fashionable imagination, but my true 'thanks' goes to those who try to shorten and/or eliminate the bridge between the taste of one to another.

Cheers, to Deagan and McQueen and all who has the ability, or attempts, to unify the broad spectrum know as fashion.

Once again, put your pens down designers. Next stop? Milan.
